Pancake story

No matter how gorgeous and beautiful this country is, from day to day I get amazing at the service people provide.
Someone once said: it is so much easier to get used to better than to worse!
I agree especially when it comes to comparing countries, people, servicing…
Let me get to the point: i have already mentioned the passive character of people living in this country and therefore I do not get amazed when they get crappy service and don’t complain about it and just keep getting it in the future.
I am talking about all kinds of services, in the stores, at the cosmetics salon, in the café bars… don’t get me wrong, it doesn’t imply to the entire country just some places (I seem to be visiting).
Some examples: you ask for spaghetti in your favorite restaurant and get cold noodles made half an hour before you arrived, you order coffee and a glass of water and they never get you the water and when you ask for it (over and over again) they just roll their eyes and give it to you right before you leave (if you are lucky).
People don’t complain about this, and they are not bothered at all by such crappy service.
Then I come along (some in
I love to complain when I know that I am the one paying for their service and their salary and that “the customer is always right!”.
In the
People ask me: “Why don’t you just shit up and deal with it, you cannot
change the world! They are like that just leave them alone!”
I go mad at just statements.
Today I went to eat pancakes with my sister. I was dying for pancakes. I ordered chocolate pancakes with Nutella, fruit and chocolate ice cream. Instead I got vanilla ice cream and cold pancakes which had been made 3 hours earlier and just heated up.
I got mad, got our pancakes and went to the bar. Complained! Wow, I complained!! The people were gob smacked, shocked, amazed, some where afraid, looking at me in suspicion.
Even the waiter got scared. He called the cook. I explained I wanted new pancakes. People around us were still in shock. Goodness, no one in
You know what?
I got new pancakes.
Maybe I cannot change the world but seems like I can change crappy cold pancakes for new freshly made ones. :)

huh, I can get over everything else, but when it comes to pancakes - they have to be what I ordered! (those who know me longer, know that I can eat pancakes/crapes every day and countless!)
and you know what happens when you grow up in such country where service is shitty (like our beloved countries)? then you feel bad when you want to complain in a country where people are used to complain even when everything is fine (like Turkey)... so many times I got what I didn`t order and so may times I feel bad when complaining...
There's always a first step to changing things, even if it's just complaining about not getting what you ordered ;-) So good for you !! :-D
(Another "example" maybe: If women hadn't complained in my country, they still might not have voting rights! Complaining is okay :-))
go go go, merili! change the world, one pancake at a time...
If a business does not give you the service that you are paying for, you have a right to complain and ask for redress to make it right.
By the way, that pancake picture you posted looks absolutely delicious and stirred up my hunger. :)
u can always try to change, but when its a matter of attitude from ppl, its helluva work!!
even here i hate services! and here they can afford to becoz even if they loose 1 customer, there are 10 more in the queue!!
the pancake looks yummy!!! i am hungry!!
;-))
Come and visit Canada sometime, especially Toronto...people here complain when there is absolutely nothing to complain about, just to here themselves speak! :D
Oh dear.
'In the UK, where I just seem to spent most part of my childhood this is more than appropriate behavior where as here… No!!!...'
People in UK are not used to complaining, maybe Americans!
Well, I haven't been to the States but if you come to Bosnia and see the apathy of people (specially in terms of complaining) the UK is THE complaining place on earth..
Even if they don't do it like you have seen in the States, the UK (compared to Bosnia) is still much much better as far as servicing goes. :)

I think most people have a dream that their life be put in a book. I do think the plot of my life would be interesting and dynamic but don't think I am ready to write one yet... my life has just begun...
Thank you for the link though, I think of it as a compliment :)
I'm sure people like you are capable enough to bring about revolutions, so good luck with that!
P.S. Thank you for adding my name to your blogroll and the blue template looks cool too.
