Who said life was boring?!
Life has been one BIG rollercoaster this week. After catching all the professors to write their grades into my student books and finally finishing all the major paper work with the faculty, I managed to organize the ‘balloon event’ and even squeeze in a meeting or two with some members of the International Women’s Club (IWC - a group of women who organize different events in order to do fundraising for different causes such as orphans and children with disabilities etc).
I watched my sister go to a Pearl Jam concert in Zagreb and my mum and dad fly off to different meetings, me staying at home (for a change) and watching the house. :P
We have the elections coming up and I am very excited. On the night of the elections I have a dinner party for Iftar at my boss’s house and on Saturday night a cocktail party with the IWC. Tonight I have a shisha date with some friends of mine and last night I stayed out most of the night with a group of girls discussing the current political flows in our countries and what we can do about it. We came up with no conclusion.
On Wednesday I was a witness to the first “Colourful Revolution” in
The next day I participated in the general protests of the NGO sector triggered by this event, since the guy who threw the paint balloons was badly beaten up by the special police forces (right in front of my eyes). I was full of furry and anger and just wish the whole country would, once and for all do something about everything that is going on instead of the just sitting on their asses all day, drinking coffee.
Grrrrrrr
PS. I am leaving for

wow! your life is so much more interesting than mine :(
okay, I'm jealous now.
It does sound like you have a lot of activity going on. I have mixed feelings about the paint balloons but it is distressing that the police forces would badly beat a guy up for that. Enjoy your upcoming trip!
I forgot one thing, the balloons were full of wash off paint which was (obviously) washed off by the Presidency cleaning ladies 15 mins later.
Long live the presidency cleaning ladies! :)
Life DOES seem interesting for you. However, witness to a brutal beating by local law enforcement is disturbing. Not a regular occurance around here, for sure...
have fun on your trip.
i'm disturbed to read about the guy who got beaten up. i hope that all will go smoothly in the elections. have a good trip and keep us updated what's happening in the run-up to the elections.

(Pobrisi komentar slobodno ako nisi zelela video snimke ovde...)
@ peckopivo: thank you for the clips, the only thing is that I was there when this took place and the guy was more hurt than the police officer.
Weird things:
1. The presidency building was not protected and 5 guys with a VW Passat drove up in front of it and painted the building for 5 mins without anyone noticing. Where was the police?
2. Finally when the police came, the first punch was thrown by an officer who was not supposed to use force but simply arrest the guy or stand between the wall and him. For anyone who was there is was obvious physical force was not necessary.
3. 3 police officers battering 1 civilian who was protesting and one of the officers evern pulling a gun out.
Hmmm... something is wrong with this picture.
Thanks for the videos, I have some of my own but didn't know whether to upload them or not.
yay for family and friends and for people who believe in justice and hope and joy and peace =)
Have a nice trip!
heh, police... it`s quite the same in all balkan countries I guess... Check what happened during the Great basketball derby in Belgrade couple of months ago (police was instructed to beat them up).
