Ahh... spring...

Spring is finally here? If you ask me how I know I will tell you it’s because of sun, it’s because of the blooming trees, it’s because of the smile on my face.

Today I walked past my favorite little park in Sarajevo (not that we have many) and for the first time this year, after months and months of snow, saw the green grass being cut.

It might sound strange but I think the smell of grass being cut is the most amazing smell in the world. It is fresh, jolly and automatically associates me with spring time and joy.

This weekend I am off to my grandparents’ house in Tuzla (a small city not far away from Sarajevo) for a Team Building Seminar with a couple of colleagues and friends from work. We will be having a wonderful rest in the most peaceful place on Earth.

A place where the blooming trees are seen every few meters, a place where the birds sing all day long and you are awaken by roosters. It is a place daffodils grow and make the whole field yellow, an ideal scene for bees and rabbits.

I am really looking forward to it.

A few days out side of the mad city, no cars, no noise, no pollution .. just sitting on blankets all day long outside in the sunlight picking daises and doing the “he loves me, he loves me not” games I used to do as a child. Waiting for my grandma to call me in for coffee and cakes, feeding the chicken and playing with the dogs…

I don’t know about you people, but that’s life for me… enjoying the nature and seeing the beauty in everything around us.

We don’t get to do that often and therefore don’t really get a real chance to live…

The smell of freshly cut grass is really nice (no double meaning this time ;-), but my favorite is the smell on a warm day, when a summerstorm is about to break out. Combined with the dark-grey sky and last rays of sun coming down - it's amazing :).

Perfectly put Merili! And you're right...there's not too many things that can compare to the smell of fresh cut grass.
