Can you imagine this???
Near the city of Visoko, 30 km north of Sarajevo, there is a stone pyramid of monumental size, claims the Bosnian archeologist Semir Osmanagić, who lives and works in the USA. After several months of geological and archeological research, Mr. Osmanagić concluded that under the present hill of Visočica hides a stairs-like pyramid, about 12,000 years old. Osmanagić, who intensively researched on pyramids in Americas, Asia and Africa for the last 15 years and wrote several books on the subject, says he's quite sure he found the first pyramid in Europe, which is quite similar to ones in the Southern America. He believes that the project would completely change Bosnia's significance in the world of archeology. On the top of "Bosnian pyramid of Sun" was a temple, built by pre-Illyrians, people who lived, according to Osmanagić, 27,000 years ago. Mr. Osmanagić thinks he will solve the "Bosnian pyramid of Sun" in the next five years, but also prove the existence of "Bosnian pyramid of Moon", lying under the neighboring hill of Križ?.
According to BBC, the leading Bosnian newspaper "Dnevni Avaz" writes:
"The pyramid is 100 metres high and there is evidence that it contains rooms and a monumental causeway ... The plateau is built of stone blocks, which indicates the presence at the time of a highly developed civilisation,"
This morning I was listening to the radio where they said that a team of expert archeologists has arrived to Sarajevo where they have (after taking pictures from the sky and analyzing the soil and actually figured out it was a real pyramid.
In April 2006 a huge project is starting led by this team of experts all over the world and it will be the biggest archeological investment project in Europe. Apparently this will be the biggest historical founding of Europe in the last 20 years.
Just think about it, pyramids in Bosnia and Herzegovina… Wow.

Nice imagine... but for some REASON I dun think that there is anything true about that but just another big hoax! Pyramids don't build themselves, but they were built by great civilizations, nothing about the history of the Balkan... but there was no culture that could built a pyramid like claimed by the ppl who say there is a pyramid... anyway, we will see. - Chi
where were you? i checked out ur pix on flicr. nice smoking shisha!!! get ready for your surprice
It's pretty interesting article, i never thought you could have pyramids in Europe so similar to Latinamerican prehispanic constructions, at the picture i can see the "montículo", but the external figure it's so similar to the sun pyramid from teotihuacan culture! Really impressive!!! I hope to know more details about it after the excavation! :D
This is a tough one. Yet, I am not sure about this Bosnian Pyramid. We'll see... There will be a scientific panel debating about this thing, so we'll see..
How do you call this a hoax...the hill looks not at all...natural.
And it was claimed to be built by a civilization that was pre-Illyran, over 27 000 years ago.
The thing that I'm moste excited about is the possibility of filling out a huge gap in history of this area. Maybe it isn't a pyramid, but I seriously doubt the fact that somebody would start anything like this for "nothing".
What we know about illyrs is so fragmentary ... even though the stones they left all over bosnia should prove that they weren't some nomadic tribal people who stayed there for a short while.
If we just get some more info on illyric or even pre-illyric civilization(s), the results would already be more than enough for me.

Damn they must have had really bad archealogists living in Bosnia while it was still part of Yugoslavia if they never noticed it was a pyramid. If we wish it strongly enough the virgin mary or mohamed may appear there also. Bring on the tourist dollars woohoo. I personally think it's a giant mass grave.
The architects who have arrived are not Bosnian, that's one thing, the other things is that if you didn't know this will be the biggest archeological investment of the EU yet and if this s true it will be the biggest pyramid found yet. They say it's the same type as the ones in Mexico, they have already found blocks and got the initial results of the rock composition back from the UK and they confirmed the theory about the rocks not being from the region but from some other place. The rest is up to the people digging it... I am looking forward to the outcome neither optemistic nor sceptical... Let's wait and see.
Yes you are right, I remember reading somewhere a whole bunch of experts also seeing the virgin marry in medjugorije.
Does anyone have information on land for sale in the area. I am ready to setup my stall to sell goodies.
One might consider the Armenian ancestors.........
THIS IS PERHAPS A CELTIC GRAVE
Dobar Dan Zdravo §§§
IT IS PERHAPS A CELTIC GRAVE
THE CELTS WRE IN THE BALKANS TOO.
WHAT IS THE PERIOD OF CONSTRUCTION ???
IF I HAVE MORE INFOS I CAN SAY MORE
MAYBE IN JULY I GO THERE AND SEE.
Dobar dan,
This is an extremely interesting and perhaps equally important story. I think it proves how little we know about the ancient past and that of the Bosnian region in particular. See http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4443738390504296376&hl=en for some video of a large network of tunnels they are currently excavating. Unless this is an elaborate hoax, there was definitely some fairly serious construction at this site for which there is no surviving historical record; and there is no doubt that the hills/structures are shaped and positioned exactly like pyramids. We’ve all seen that image from Mars of what seems to be a pyramid with what looks like a face but is most likely a natural formation, but in this case we have much better images and there are three such structures/hills situated exactly like some of the pyramids in Egypt. The bottom line is the experts are being very stubborn and myopic (a little knowledge is a dangerous thing but sometimes a lot of knowledge is even more dangerous). Their claim is that there is no supporting evidence to prove the date of the stones/structures that have been uncovered and no POSSIBILITY that a civilization lived in that region capable of building such large structures (the logic being that if there was such a civilization we would have already found artifacts, even though they admit to knowing next to nothing about the region's ancient civilizations such as the Illyrians). The question is simply whether there is a pyramid there (because if there is then there must have been a LOST civilization capable of building it) or just some unknown man-made structures added to a set of very unusual naturally occurring hills. So far there has been no conclusive evidence presented either way, but the experts are not going to help answer that question because they are sure they already know the answer and/or because they are afraid of damaging their reputations by being associated with a hoax or even an honest mistake. Osmanagić’s background doesn’t help but it has provided the motivation for his undertaking. He is a businessman and believer in a link between the pyramids of Eqypt and Latin America, Atlantis, and of course the alien visitors that tie everything together. He is most likely wrong about a lot of his beliefs and he is probably going to profit from this, but again the question is simply whether there is a pyramid there, not whether it was built by or for aliens. So I am disregarding the "experts" and eagerly waiting to see if Osmanagić can prove his case. It seems like an easy question to answer but according to Osmanagić it may take several years. If the experts are in fact wrong they will all be very embarrassed and, more importantly, Europe will take it’s rightful place as home of the world’s first real civilization. Otherwise, perhaps Osmanagić is damaging an important historical site but at least he’s doing something to answer a question that has been asked by people in that region for a very long time.
